About Camp

Safe, Fun, Meaningful….

Procter Summer Camp, a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio, strives to be an inclusive and diverse place for youth, families, and adults to learn, play, and pray together – growing in faith and resilience through fun, safe, and meaningful camp experiences.

We start each day of camp with singing, prayer, and spiritual formation – a time when campers are able to explore and grow in their faith and connection with God. The day continues with outdoor education and enrichment opportunities – Farm Camp and Camp WILD – during which campers explore the gifts of nature through hands-on experience while learning how to conserve and care for all of Creation.

Afternoons at camp include F.O.B. (flat on bunk – which is our rest and restoration hour), Free Choice Activities such as Archery, Fishing, Boating, Swimming, Sports Ball, Arts & Crafts, Hammocking, and more!

Evenings are spent playing classic all-camp games such as Wiffles and Cream, Water Olympics, or Ultimate Rock, Paper, Scissors, a talent show, or tie-dying camp shirts (a Procter favorite).

We close almost every day with a campfire, and time spent in prayer through a tradition of prayer called Compline. Campers have evening devotions in their cabins, and then the next day, we do it all again!

We enjoy healthy, delicious meals, and campers get to learn about our sustainability practices by helping with our Slop & Compost program.

Campers also learn skills such as tenacity, grit, and resilience – helping with KP, Cabin Clean-Up, and trying new skills during activities and worship, and stretching themselves as they gain courage and independence as they disconnect from home and technology, and reconnect to themselves, the natural world around them, and their faith.

Each camp session closes with a worship service called Eucharist, and families are invited to attend and celebrate the camp session with campers.

Be a Junior Counselor

A coveted mini-camp at Procter for campers who have completed 9th-12th grades, or are ages 15-17. This camp is for Procter Campers interested in becoming Jr Counselors for other camp sessions. Campers will explore what it means to take a leadership role at camp, be trained in the work of SafeChurch practices, dismantling racism, and how to lead camp activities and worship. Campers will also get to enjoy the best of camp life – from campfires, swimming, fishing, games, sing-song and more! At the end of this camp each camper will be given the opportunity to apply to be Jr Counselor if they are still interested. Jr Counselors are volunteers who help with peer-to-peer mentoring at camp and assist campers with programs!
